Barcelona, March 17th 2022.- Indicesa L’illa and Savills have presented this morning L’illa&Co., a new coworking concept of more than 1,000 square meters located in L’illa Diagonal building in Barcelona.
The new project is the first coworking in the financial district of Barcelona that brings together a shopping center, hotels, offices and a flex space in the same place, designed to provide the necessary service to new ways of working. Its location and quality, in the most consolidated office area in the city where the availability of office space is below 5% according to data from Savills, has been one of the keys to its quick acceptance by users. The project has been inaugurated today with 50% of the space already occupied by more than 14 companies.
A functional space adapted to current needs
L’illa & Co. has a total of 92 workstations distributed in 25 offices between 2 and 8 desks each which, thanks to their configuration, can meet higher space needs. It also offers meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology to hold videoconferences and work remotely with teams, and an Àgora room designed to hold training sessions, presentations and other types of professional events for more than 40 people.
In addition, the facilities have an “open space” work area, several points where you can have an informal meeting or take a private phone call, and even a golf green where you can unwind and socialize with the other users of the space.
Juan Manuel Sanahuja, from Indicesa L’illa, pointed out in the presentation that “the opportunity moment and the scarcity of this type of offer in a traditional office area prompted us to start this project with great desire to provide more services to our clients and continue expanding the uses of the building. We are delighted with the success and the engagement with the space that already has 50% of the area at full capacity”.
For her part, Anna Gener, CEO of Savills Barcelona, explained that “spaces like L’ílla, with mixed uses that allow enriching the day-to-day of new ways of working, are currently a clear trend in the financial centers of the cities by providing very flexible quality solutions for people and companies”.
According to Savills, coworking spaces and flexible workspaces have recovered their activity after the pandemic. In 2021 in Barcelona, nine operations were signed by flex operators who contracted 11,600 sqm and both operators, owners and users trust in the convenience of the model.
